Introducing Saro de Rúe x Gothamista Essence
It all started when Renée Chow, known as @Gothamista on YouTube and Instagram, fell in love with Saro de Rúe’s Freeze Dried Hyaluronic Acid System created by Mimi Kim.
The moment Chow and Kim met, there was an instant connection between their passion for meaningful ingredients and new skincare technology. Fueled by their excitement over the endless possibilities in the skincare space, these two great minds were destined to create something extraordinary together, thus The Saro de Rúe x Gothamista Essence was born.
With Kim’s distinct approach to product development and Chow’s vast experience in the beauty space, each ingredient was meticulously chosen, with both women determined to create an essence formulated with the best, by the best.
Working together since 2020, the two bounced ideas back and forth from New York City to Hong Kong to Seoul, to develop their dream formula for their limited edition essence with enhanced black ginseng and Hanbang Medicinal Herbs.
This is Chow’s first-ever collaboration, despite having many skincare brands interested in her expertise in the past. She chose to work with Saro de Rúe because of Kim’s passion, expertise, and hands-on method in the world of Korean Beauty.
“People always ask me if I will create a skincare line, to which I say, ‘aren’t there already enough out there?’" said Chow. "I’ve been testing products for over 20 years now, and can’t count the number of times I’ve thought 'This formula would be perfect if only…' That all changed when I started to work with Mimi on the collaboration, to design my dream formula incorporating medicinal ingredients. The experience of creating this product was fabulously satisfying and indulgent! Most importantly, it is something I get to share with my community in a perfectly ‘Gothamista’ way to give some love back to those who have viewed and supported me for years.”
From the ingredients to the packaging, each detail of the product was carefully crafted by women around the same idea: creating an innovative, and results-driven product that would be a skincare staple for all skin types.
“Simplifying the everyday beauty routine was essential to Renée and I, and my goal was to pack the formula with highly potent, and multi-tasking ingredients to create a product that truly does it all,” added Kim.
